So I joined a Book Club.
I am shocked by this as well.
However I need to get out of the house and meet new people. My circle of people is very tight knit. I only let very few people in and they stay for life.
I first used MeetUp when I moved to Denver... over 4 years ago! Since then I have lived in 2 other cities within Colorado. Now that I am settling in Colorado Springs I need to get out more and meet more people. MeetUp was successful before so I decided to try it out again!
This time instead of joining the bar scene MeetUp groups I have chosen to go with a Book Club... Those are my kind of people. Especially when it is paired with wine or coffee.
The in person book club was currently in the middle of a book and hadn't chosen the next book yet... and since I was super excited about a book club I joined a virtual one as well!
Now if I want to meet more people why would I join a virtual one as well?
Sometimes I want to stay in my PJ's, drink wine, and talk about books.
No one sees me and I get to talk to all these wonderful people about a book I truly enjoyed. It's a win win for me! The virtual one had the first chat through Facebook this past Tuesday and it was awesome! It wasn't at all like a college discussion post, which for some odd reason was my go-to thought, it was like a messaging thread among friends. And everyone was so interactive.
This is also letting me reach my next goal for the year... READING. I wanted to read more. I wanted to do more of the things I love, and I love reading and immersing myself into a story. There's honestly no better feeling than starting a new book, especially when paid with a bath and a glass of wine.
I can't wait to share this journey with you as well. What books are you reading now? What books are next on your list?
