When I shared my New Year's post, Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018, I shared a few of the goals and intentions I am hoping to accomplish this year. Which I kept my list short. Why? Because it's manageable but big. Big to me because a few are out of my comfort zone, and that is something I am going after for 2018.
It's the year of health, exercise, and travel. The first thing on my list was travel. The past week or so I have been planning my trip to Costa Rica. This has been on my bucket list for a very long time. So I am super excited to execute this dream of mine. I currently have a list of hotels in the area I want to visit, as well as all the activities I want to do. A few of the activities I really wanted to do involved a minimum reservation of 2 people, and since I am going all by myself I had to opt out of some of these. This is costing a little more than I originally thought, but hey, it's my dream trip. It's happening in April, and I am super excited.
The second item on my list is to read. I used to read all the time. WHY DID I STOP?! I can tell you, Grad School. So I am almost done with my first book of the year. I started reading Eat, Pray, Love because ya know... someone told me I was Eat, Pray, Lovin' it after my relationship ended with a trip planned to Costa Rica. So far... I will have to agree. I also can't wait to share my thoughts on this book that has been out for over ten years. I can't believe it has taken me this long to read it. But hey, grad school, remember? Speaking of reading, I have been out of the book world for sometime, what should I add to my reading list? What authors should I look out for? I need ideas people.
Another goal of mine is my fitness regimen, and my health, mental and physical. As I stated in the post referenced above, I am putting a huge focus into rowing again. Why? Because it is full body. I love the workout I get from it and how sweaty I am after the workout. I enjoy a good sweat. My focus is on stamina and endurance. So right now, my strokes per minute are low, as well as how many meters I'm completing. I am hoping to build it up over time, but as of right now I am enjoying the workout. I am also going to get back into Yoga. I have always enjoyed it, but I think practicing again will help me keep my mind clear and focused. Practicing yoga will also give me the range of motion and flexibility I will need to stay limber from any weightlifting. I have always gone to a class, but I am trying to save money to purchase a home this year. I know that's a big step. So I ordered some DVD's from Amazon just so I can get the visual, and then since I already pay for Aaptiv, I am going to try out those classes. I will definitely give you an update on using Aaptiv for Yoga, I am extremely visual, so trying to do this with just listening may be challenging at first. But isn't challenging myself my goal this year?
The other two on my list was focus on this blog as well as a focus in food prep and cooking. The reason I added those two items is because I am focused on my future and what I want to put out into the world. I want to share the knowledge I have gained through school and experience for everyone to enjoy and learn from. So I am putting a larger focus on this blog and my other adventure of financial literacy. So stay tuned for that adventure.
Food prep? Because I want to always have something planned for the days that I am lazy or tired. I just did it this week, and I since I am just cooking for myself it didn't take that long. So why haven't I taken the time do this? I have put a strong focus on my health especially with Whole30, but this time around instead of getting bored, I am getting creative. Also, I don't want to grab something easy, like take out and get a migraine.
I wanted to go more in depth with my original post for the new year, because I am hoping that those out there in the internet world is able to provide any advice or insight on some of the things I'm looking to accomplish. Like Costa Rica, does anyone have any must-dos or must-sees? I want the adventure of a lifetime with that one.
